Instagram

It is a double whammy of posts from me today, below are a small selection of images I have recently posted on my instagram https://www.instagram.com/robdphotographs/. I hope you enjoy and please feel free to drop feedback and a cheeky follow 🙂

Back to the blog.

Hello again people, i have decided to restart my blogging this year after disappearing since mid 2017. I previously lost all motivation for photography and through attempting to keep it going by starting a new blog and posting weekly, i struggled to find motivation to go out and take photos.

Recently after speaking to a friend, I have decided to launch a brand new blog to do with running, as a keen runner I will be blogging about my running journey leading up to my first half marathon and attempting to give advice to anybody who wishes to get out there and go for a run :). More details coming soon and there will be a link at the top of the page.

Back to photography I lost all motivation for going out and taking photos apart from the odd occasion where i have gone away on trips, last year was NYC, USA and Warsaw, Poland. I had restarted my instagram originally for just my landscapes photos but in general rather than posting on 2 separate accounts turned it back into a photography page, recently gone through the archives and picking out the best selection of images going back to 2012, I have plenty to add so I will continue doing this, I will also be going out on new photo walks and trying to get my photography mojo back.

I will post a separate post with a link to some of my recent images posted on instagram this week.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

On tuesday (12/7) I took a short trip over to Scarborough, North Yorkshire for a nights stay. Despite the rain, still managed to get out and about with the camera, here are a few shots from my iPhone whilst I catch up on my photo editing backlog.

Then as I was heading home, the sun was out.

Overall it was a good little break, now I have got my interest in photography back my motivation seems to be returning too.

All Along the Rooftops.

Not long ago I joined a new group on facebook (Leeds Photography Group) after been told by a friend about it. They meet up a few times a month to go out taking photos and on Weds (5 July) I joined them for the Car Park Rooftops meet up.

Here are a couple of photos I have worked on so far.

New instagram

To go alongside the website refresh, I have created a seperate instagram account just for my Landscape photography. I will still post on my normal account too but i am keen to boost a social media presence so I have decided to create a landscapes page in the hope i can boost my sales and exposure of my work.

The Trick with instagram is to find the right hashtags for your photos, but you are limited to no more than 30 on any one photo in the description bar.

I found this article online that I found useful. https://fstoppers.com/originals/three-easy-ways-drive-new-followers-your-instagram-free-instagram-tips-part-1-159155

Dont forget to check out my instagram and leave comments etc.

1 Year back blogging

It has been just over a year since I restarted my blog from the beginning and it has been a good year in terms of views and reaching out on the world wide web especially with the weekly photo challenges becoming popular and despite a little hiatus midway through 2016, still had many comments.

Here I am picking 5 of my favourite blog posts from the last year or so.

I have a few ideas regarding my website, complete new layout with prints to purchase etc.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Graceful

This weeks challenge subject is Graceful. I went for a walk at my local park through the week and I always find it peaceful even if it was cold and wet.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Resilient

This is my first weekly challenge post for a while and the first of the year, the subject is Resilient.

Meaning behind the photo i post today, a full house at Elland Road as the winning days continue to return. In past seasons at this stage we would be in a position of dire mid table, but at this time we sit 5th. Good times.

Plan for 2017!!

As the year is drawing to a close with christmas and the new year ahead, I have been thinking about a plan for next year.

  • Photography- I want to get back into my photography and really focus myself next year, I am hoping to get into some portrait photography and also visit some new places.

Temple Newsam House in the snow

  • Portfolio- Completely rebuild my portfolio both Graphic Design wise and photography in order to update my website
  • Website- my website needs a good update and a total rethink regarding layout etc and move onto marketing my site so i can make more sales.
  • Fitness- I would like to get much fitter and keep the motivation to keep going to the gym and when my work shifts allow, Parkrun. I will be running at Leeds 10k in july again and possibly still thinking of doing the Yorkshire 10 Mile. More so to focus on that Leeds 10k Personal Best each year.
  • Driving- I really want to pass my driving test next year after failing 3 times already, I will have 6 months or so to pass before having to retake my theory and that is not a option. Failing the 3rd time really hit my confidence in myself to just go for it again, but when i see people passing tests or driving when they shouldnt it has given me extra incentive to prove myself.
  • Travel- I would like to visit somewhere new in 2017, so many european cities I want to visit, I also think I will return to Prague to see my friend at some point in the year. Bruges is a place I wish to go and also possibly revisit Amsterdam or to Barcelona, I am thinking of going to New York for my 30th birthday next november.

Whitby

Back on the August Bank Holiday I went to Whitby, North Yorkshire with 2 friends for the day. It was a great day out and quite warm too, I took my camera with me to get some photos as the town is so photogenic and as I enjoyed my previous shorter evening visit there with the camera last year, I knew that I would get some good images.
